Alera Group snaps up six agencies

Alera Group, an independent, national insurance and wealth services firm, announced today the acquisition of six agencies: Cate-Russell, Foa & Son, Gales Agency, Heritage Risk Management, Vital Incite and Webber & Grinnell. Effective Dec. 31, the addition of the new locations will bolster services and expertise across wealth services, property and casualty insurance and employee benefits solutions. 

Here’s a glance at Alera Group’s new locations:

• Cate-Russell Insurance, an independent insurance agency offering business, personal and benefits insurance. Based in Maryville, Tenn., Cate-Russell Insurance is an affiliate of Alera Group company Propel Insurance and provides a variety of business insurance, personal insurance and employee benefits solutions for clients. The Cate-Russell Insurance team specializes in providing personalized guidance to help clients find the right coverage.
• Foa & Son, an international insurance broker. Founded in 1861, Foa & Son is an agency of international insurance brokers based in New York City. Foa & Son maintains strong commercial practice groups in multinational clients, food and beverage, real estate and construction, hospitality, supply chain, fine art and specie, manufacturers and distributors, professional service firms, not-for-profit, automotive, life science, technology and municipalities. In addition, Foa & Son provides white-glove private insurance advisory services and corporate benefits consulting services to prestigious firms across the United States.
• Gales Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency providing a full line of insurance products including home, business, auto and life insurance policies to protect families. Gales Agency, Inc., based in Oceana County, Mich., represents top-rated carriers, providing personal insurance, business insurance, health insurance, life insurance, pet insurance and Medicare.  
• Heritage Risk Management, a network of independent risk management agencies serving clients throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico. Heritage Risk Management’s network of independent risk management agencies offers a broad array of products and services, tapping into a deep well of expertise from across the organization to offer thought leadership in risk management across a myriad of industries, including agriculture, banking, oil and gas, construction, transportation, professional services, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, medical malpractice and employee benefits. 
• Vital Incite, a healthcare consulting firm offering the insight needed to strategically align healthcare resources to meet the needs of employee populations. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Vital Incite delivers data-driven strategies designed to identify and improve medical spend waste, allowing employers to reinvest in the correct resources that will improve employee health. Vital Incite’s analytics tools combine multiple data sources, including claims data (medical, dental, vision), health risk assessments, biometric data and vendor data. 
• Webber & Grinnell, an independent insurance agency providing comprehensive personal insurance, business insurance and employee benefits. Headquartered in Northampton, Mass., Webber & Grinnell Insurance has provided insurance protection for individuals and businesses throughout New England for more than 150 years. The stability, professionalism and competitiveness of their staff has made Webber & Grinnell Insurance one of the largest agencies in the region. Webber & Grinnell specializes in a variety of coverage services to meet clients’ unique insurance needs, including personal insurance, business insurance and employee benefits.

The teams at all six firms will continue serving clients in their existing roles in addition to working collaboratively across Alera Group’s 120 locations. Their products, services and expertise will be available to Alera Group clients nationwide. Terms of the transactions were not announced.
