AXA XL has bolstered its US mid-market team with the appointment of Matthew Duke as head of pricing for US middle market analytics.
“With the addition of Matthew, we continue to build out a strong team of industry talent and move another step closer to officially launching our underwriting operation,” said Matt Waters, head of US middle market for AXA XL. “Matt’s career experience, especially his work establishing actuarial pricing infrastructure and portfolio monitoring tools to support underwriters, is particularly relevant to our situation and focus on efficiency. In his new role with us, Matt is tasked with developing our US middle market pricing strategy and infrastructure.”
Duke has 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining AXA XL, he served at Xceedance as senior vice president and chief actuary, head of global actuarial services. Before that, he served as head of pricing and growth analytics and interim head of risk at Blackboard Insurance. He has also held positions at Guy Carpenter, Arch Insurance and Travelers.
Duke holds credentials as an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Associate in Reinsurance, and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
AXA XL’s US mid-market team is set to launch underwriting operations in June. At launch, the team will offer workers’ compensation, commercial auto, general liability, property and umbrella to private equity firms.
Duke is the latest addition to AXA XL’s mid-market team. Last month, the company announced the appointment of John Liantonio as head of mid-market private equity. The company also recently announced several key promotions in its marine team.
