Chubb has strengthened the leadership of its North America commercial property and casualty businesses with two new appointments.
Seth Gillston (pictured right), private equity and real estate & hospitality industry practice leader, has been promoted to the role of executive vice president of Chubb’s North America global casualty and multinational field operations. In his new role, Gillston will oversee field operations for Chubb’s global casualty and multinational businesses. A release said that he will focus on delivering Chubb’s full range of capabilities to clients and distribution partners through the company’s US and Canadian branch offices.
With over 25 years of experience, Gillston will report to Chubb executive vice president of global casualty Lou Capparelli. Gillston will also work closely with the excess casualty team to deliver Chubb’s range of primary, foreign, and excess casualty offerings for large accounts. He will continue to serve as head of private equity practice, reporting to Chubb group and division president, North America major accounts Matt Merna, and will remain based in New York.
Gillston joined Chubb in 2000. Prior to the acquisition of Chubb in 2016, he served as mergers & acquisitions and private equity practice leader.
Meanwhile, Bill Hazelton (pictured top) – current executive vice president – has been tapped to succeed Gillston as practice leader of the real estate & hospitality business. He will also take on an expanded executive vice president role that is “focused on a number of key strategic initiatives” in Chubb’s North America businesses, reporting to Chubb Group vice chairman and North America Insurance president John Lupica.
Hazelton joined Chubb in 2005, having served in several leadership roles. Before serving as executive vice president, he was head of claims in North America, and was Chubb’s environmental, excess casualty and construction industry practice leader.
“Seth and Bill have a deep understanding of the issues each of our clients face,” commented Matt Merna. “Seth’s background positions him well to work with our partners to deliver effective excess casualty and multinational solutions to clients globally. Bill’s extensive knowledge about the industry and our business is ideal for meeting the complex needs of our clients and distribution partners. His background will enable him to effectively deliver Chubb’s full suite of specialized offerings.”
