Farmers Insurance has announced that it received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index, a benchmarking survey that measures corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. Farmers is one of more than 840 major US businesses that earned top marks from the HRC.
“At Farmers, our longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion is the foundation of our culture and central to our core values as an organization,” said Mark Welch, chief people and diversity officer at Farmers. “It’s an honor to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for our ongoing efforts to champion LGBTQ+ equality within our workplace and help ensure Farmers remains a great place to work for all.”
Farmers offers inclusive employee benefits, diversity and inclusion training, and a network of employee resource groups (ERGs) to help support employees. The Farmers Pride ERG focuses on elevating LGBTQ+ considerations in the workplace, increasing education and awareness, and engaging with the communities Farmers serves.
“When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers – from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns – could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically,” said Jay Brown, senior vice president of programs, research and training at HRC.
“We are proud that the Corporate Equality Index paved the way to that reality for countless LGBTQ+ workers in America and abroad. But there is more still to do, which is why we are raising the bar yet again to create more equitable workplaces and a better tomorrow for LGBTQ+ workers everywhere. Congratulations to Farmers Insurance for achieving the title of ‘best places to work for LGBTQ+ equality’ and working to advance inclusion in the workplace.”
