Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Junaid Seria (pictured above) as head of catastrophe analytics for its fast-growing Latin American and Caribbean markets.
In his new role, Seria will leverage Gallagher Re’s catastrophe modeling and analytical expertise from dedicated teams in London, Ipswich and Mumbai, as well as within the Latin American and Caribbean region. He will be based in London and report to Edson Wiggers, CEO of Latin America and Caribbean for Gallagher Re.
Seria is the latest addition to the division in recent months as Gallagher Re invests in additional talent as part of its growth plans for the region. His appointment follows those of Carlos Gonzalez and Harry Titherly, who joined the company last year as vice president and divisional director, respectively.
Seria has 15 years of experience in various analytical roles at an insurer, reinsurer and consultancy. His expertise includes model governance post-Solvency II, catastrophe research and development, climate change and actuarial analytics. He has also served in various working groups including EIOPA’s Catastrophe Expert Network, the Bank of England’s Climate Change, the Geneva Association’s Climate Change and Environment, and as chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ working group on catastrophe risk.
“Junaid is a natural leader who brings passion, expertise and a commercially driven, analytical mind, all of which will be invaluable as we look to execute on our ambitious growth plans in the region and deliver exceptional analytical insight to clients,” Wiggers said. “We’re very excited to have him on board alongside Carlos, Harry and our other new and existing colleagues, with their diverse backgrounds in catastrophe analytics, underwriting and reinsurance broking.
“Together, they bring a powerful blend of skills and experience to our growing team and expanding business, while sharing a collaborative approach that ensures we will continue to harness expertise from across the wider global business to best serve our local and regional clients.”
