Having scooped the WTW Media Awards prize for Insurance and Risk Publication of the Year in three of the last four years (2018, 2019, 2021), Insurance Business is today celebrating adding another trophy to its cabinet – that of Publication of the Year at the BIBA Media Awards 2022.
Held by the British Insurance Brokers’ Association, the media awards are an annual event to celebrate the best coverage of the insurance industry throughout both the trade and national press. Mia Wallace, senior UK news editor, was on hand to receive the prize from BIBA’s executive director Graeme Trudgill.
However, that was not the only notable success for Insurance Business at the prestigious ceremony – Mia herself scooped the award for “Best Thought Leadership Article”.
“One above all others stood out for its originality, its emotion and its relevance to a central challenge we must continue to address,” said Christopher Croft (pictured above presenting the award to Mia), CEO of LIIBA. “Focusing on the reaction to the terrible murder of Sarah Everard, it looked at the way in which our tendency to try to relate to such tragedy, to compare its impact to how it must affect us personally, can lead us to lose sight of the individual, and how, as we strive for greater diversity in our market, we must not let a similar trait – the labelling of subsections of our community – leave us unable to recognize talent that has yet to be categorised.”

Meanwhile, Insurance Business newcomer Jen Frost scooped a joint “Best Investigative Article” award for her work with a different trade publication.
“I run out of superlatives for the talent of both Mia and Jen,” said Insurance Business global editor Paul Lucas. “To say they are assets for Insurance Business and Key Media would be a massive understatement – both are so supremely talented and bring their own unique voice to the publication. We are so lucky to have them.
“They are also part of a much wider group of talented journalists globally, who continue to deliver day in and day out and contribute to our news output. Whether their role with us is to break news, interview the biggest names in the industry, record videos, podcasts or more – they never fail to attain the highest standards. So, the publication of the year title is a reward for all of them.
“Also I’d like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to our sponsors for their continued support, to the BIBA committee, and to our broker-based audience who make us a destination for news and thought leadership every day. Without your support there would be no Insurance Business – so thank you.”
