Marsh has promoted Michelle Sartain (pictured), the current head of its financial and professional (FINPRO) lines division in the US, to lead the firm’s specialty business in the US and Canada.
She will commence her new position on January 01, succeeding Pat Donnelly, who was named the company’s president of US and Canada operations last month.
In this role, Sartain will oversee Marsh’s aviation, construction, energy and power, credit specialties, FINPRO, marine, private equity and mergers and acquisitions (PEMA), and transactional risk specialty businesses in the region.
She will work closely with Donnelly and report to Marsh Specialty and Marsh Global Placement president Lucy Clarke.
Sartain boasts more than 20 years of industry experience and has held several leadership roles within the global insurance brokerage and risk advisory firm. Prior to being named as head of US FINPRO in New York, she has served as US sales leader tasked with guiding the company’s sales strategy across the country.
“Michelle is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of client-focused innovation,” Clarke said. “Under her guidance, Marsh Specialty will continue to pursue next generation solutions that provide firms in the US and Canada with the advice and protection they need to operate successfully in today’s challenging risk environment.”
“It’s an exciting time to be at Marsh and leading this team of talented specialty colleagues as we drive new growth possibilities for clients,” Sartain added.
Sartain’s appointment comes as part of a wider management shakeup at Marsh McLennan’s executive ranks.
Last month, the insurance giant elevated current chief executive John Doyle to group president and chief operating officer at Marsh McLennan, with Marsh’s head of US and Canada, Martin South, taking his place.
