Meadowbrook Insurance Group (MIG) of Southfield Michigan, a leader in the specialty program management market, announced recently the acquisition of Mackinaw Administrators, LLC ("Mackinaw").
MIG is a specialty niche-focused, commercial insurance underwriter and insurance administration services company. It sells and underwrites specialty property and casualty insurance programs and products. Its business is both admitted and non-admitted. Distribution is accomplished through independents, wholesalers, administrators and general agents. MIG owns and operates six insurance carriers in all 50 states.
Mackinaw is a 20-year-old program and claims administrator. It provides insurance and risk management programs and other related services for both group and individual clients. The firm has offices in Michigan and Ohio. Lines of business include workers compensation, general liability, medical professional liability and liquor liability.
Meadowbrook’s president and CEO, Robert S. Cubbin, said in a written statement, “This is a compelling transaction that will enable Meadowbrook to expand our fee-based product offerings and services and further diversify our revenue base. As our long-time partner, we recognize first-hand that Mackinaw is a premier program administrator with a strong reputation among agents, fee clients and policyholders.”
The terms were disclosed in Meadowbrook’s communique. Mackinaw will operate as an independent subsidiary within Meadowbrook. Mackinaw’s current management team will continue and remain at its present headquarters in Brighton, MI.
