With Democrats set to control the House of Representatives and Republicans maintaining control of the Senate, the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) is urging Congress to find bipartisan solutions for insurance issues.
“PIA will continue to advocate for policies that help independent insurance agents protect consumers: a strong National Flood Insurance Program and crop insurance program, the strengthening of employer-sponsored healthcare, and opposition to proposals that chip away at the successful state insurance regulatory system,” said Jon Gentile, PIA’s national vice president of government relations.
PIA said in a news release that it will encourage the incoming 116th Congress to pursue business-friendly policies that encourage a competitive insurance market. The trade association said it hopes to accomplish some of its goals during the lame-duck session of the current Congress.
The 116th Congress will be seated in January.
