Texas Mutual Insurance has distributed $1.1 million in grants across the state to support efforts to develop workforces.
The insurer is supporting 16 organizations with their workforce development and job-skill training programs through the grants. A release said that Texas Mutual selected “strategic partners” that deliver initiatives that not only benefit their workforce, but their local community as well.
Distribution of the grants was completed earlier this month, the insurer revealed.
Organizations which received the grants included:
“The Texas workforce is one of the strongest in the country, and investments like these grants from Texas Mutual make that possible,” said Texas Workforce Commission commissioner of labor Julian Alvarez III.
Alvarez added that by providing funds to organizations committed to workforce development and economic expansion, Texas Mutual is ensuring that there are more job opportunities in the state, as well as increased access to critical safety training.
“Texas Mutual’s strategic partnerships with these organizations represent our commitment to promoting job creation in the Lone Star State,” said Texas Mutual president and CEO Rich Gergasko.
“When current and potential employees have access to safety training, the ability to develop new job skills and increased health and safety awareness, workplaces - and the overall Texas workforce - are stronger and safer.”
Previously, in October, Texas Mutual provided a $5 million grant to policyholders affected by Tropical Storm Imelda.
