USAA has announced that due to increased customer interest in telematics and behavior-based insurance, it will launch its SafePilot program in the majority of states throughout 2021. USAA launched the program in South Dakota last week.
The SafePilot program rewards safe driving habits. USAA members who enroll in SafePilot in South Dakota are eligible for discounts up to 10% for signing up for the program, and continued policy discounts of up to 30% for engaging in safe driving behaviors.
SafePilot enrollments grew by more than 200% last year, with nearly half of the new policyholders in states where the program was available opting in.
“We are excited to offer SafePilot to our members in South Dakota to promote safe driving behaviors and to offer up significant policy discounts,” said Randy Termeer, senior vice president and general manager of auto insurance. “USAA is committed to providing competitive products and services that support the military and their families, with discounts being just one way for us to help facilitate their financial security.”
In addition to South Dakota, SafePilot is currently available in Arizona, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Virginia, with plans to launch in more states throughout 2021.
