AXIS Insurance, the specialty insurance business segment of AXIS Capital Holdings, has announced three appointments in its US renewables team. The company has appointed Becky Nace-Grover as senior underwriter, Kamran Hameed as cross-class underwriter, and German Torres as underwriter. All three will report to Sam Walsh, head of US renewable energy at AXIS.
“Given the continued growth of wind, solar and battery energy storage projects in the United States, we are expanding the size of our underwriting team to meet the needs of our insureds and broker partners alike,” Walsh said. “With their combined industry knowledge and expertise, Becky, Kamran and German will play a vital role in helping us meet the demands of the growing renewable energy market. I am delighted to welcome them to the team.”
Nace-Grover joins AXIS from ProSight Specialty Insurance, where she served as president of niche underwriting. Prior to that, she served at GCube as an underwriter focusing on wind and solar clients. She will be based in New York.
Hameed previously served as a senior underwriter at Alta Risk, where he worked with an array of renewable energy contractors. He has also served as an underwriter at AIG. Hameed will be based in Kansas City.
Torres is transferring internally from the AXIS property and energy team, where he served as an underwriter for property, political risk and renewable energy business based in Latin America. Before joining AXIS, Torres served as a property underwriter at Hannover Re. He is based in San Francisco.
